TFRW Tribute to Women 2010
During the Texas Republican Convention held once every four years, clubs have the opportunity to recognize up to four members to receive the “Tribute To Women Gold Pin. The women selected have distinguished themselves by exceptional volunteer service in positions of increasing responsibility within their individual club, the NFRW and theTFRW. Their outstanding dedication and commitment reflects distinct credit upon them, their club and the Texas Federation of Republican Women.
On Friday, June 11, 2010 four members were honored by Northwest Forest Republican Women.

TFRW Legislative Day ~ Austin
April 16, 2009
The Texas Legislature meets every other year, and one day during the session the Legislature recognizes TFRW members. On that day, almost 1,000 Republican Women from all over Texas, all wearing red jackets, gather at the Capitol. NWFRW always enjoy this event because it is a wonderful experience with good friends and great fellowship.
TFRW Convention – Galveston - November 13-15, 2009
The theme of the 27th biennial convention of the Texas Federation of Republican Women was “A Wave of Inspiration.” Our club, along with two others, hosted the gala on Friday evening whose theme “Catch the Wave” was tropical-casual. Guest speakers included Lt. Governor David Dewhurst, Attorney General Greg Abbott, actress Janine Turner, and Commissioner Todd Staples.
NWFRW was represented by State Representative Patricia Harless, seventeen delegates, our District Director Sylvia Manley, the State Bylaws Vice President Jo Konen, and five supportive husbands. Registration included events on Friday (opening cocktail reception), Saturday (awards luncheon, two workshops, and the Ten Outstanding Women Banquet), and Sunday (Memorial breakfast and the installation luncheon). Galveston was a beautiful setting for meeting friends.
Nearly 700 people attended the Friday night opening reception, and it was a great success. During the sessions we heard from many of our elected officials and candidates.
At the Memorial Breakfast on Sunday morning we remembered four of our members who have passed away during the past two years. During the closing session we approved a resolution opposing the proposed Cap and Trade legislation and three resolutions honoring the convention chairmen and volunteers, retiring TFRW office manager Ellen Harrison, and outgoing President Toni Anne Dashiell. The 2010 TFRW President Rebecca Bradford and the other state officers were installed and have great plans to lead us in the coming years.
NWFRW received the John Goodwin Tower Award of Excellence and the Roger Williams Voter Registration Award at the Texas Federation of Republican Women’s convention in Galveston in November 13-15, 2009. In addition, our own Sylvia Manley was chosen as one of the Ten Outstanding Women for 2009. Sylvia was also elected as District Director of District 7.
